An inspection of Newport’s Monnow Primary School raised concerns some children were also learning in cold classrooms.

School governors blamed the state of disrepair of the building.

Newport council denied there were rats and said there were schools in even more need in the city.

Outreach workers doing the dawn patrol for charity Changing Lives said that the rodents had become a ‘normal part of life’ for those living on the streets. ‘You do see rats at times, especially when it has been raining because the sewers are full and they come to the surface,’ Stuart Dawson said during the walk through Newcastle.

pest control news februaryA three-year-old hawk, named Fagan, and a seven-year-old crossbreed falcon, called Kenna, could be flown around the area of Mere Street to scare away roosting pigeons.

The idea was first suggested to Diss Town Council by Dealey Bird Control and Falconry two years ago. Traders were also consulted on the idea.

Now it is back on the agenda after the council was spurred into action following concerns from a member of the public about unsightly and unhealthy pigeon droppings.

Bed bugs were found on a Fayette County school bus. Here’s what’s being done.

pest control news februaryBed bugs were found Wednesday morning on a Fayette County Public Schools bus, district spokeswoman Lisa Deffendall confirmed.

The bed bugs were found on Bus 872 at the completion of Wednesday’s morning run, she said. Bus 872 services Breckinridge Elementary, Henry Clay High School and Crawford Middle School in the morning.

“Like the rest of the nation and state, there are families in Fayette County who are dealing with the issue of bed bugs at home,” Deffendall said Thursday.
