AMES Rise To The Three Peaks Challenge In Support Of Acorns Children

AMES Rise To The Three Peaks Challenge In Support Of Acorns ChildrenAlan Read will lead an intrepid team from AMEs on the Three Peaks Challenge in May this year. The AMES team will be raising money for Acorns Children’s hospice. Acorns hospice currently cares for 600 life-limited children from across the West Midlands and Three Counties.

Acorns offer a network of care services through its three hospices in Birmingham, Walsall and Worcester. The Acorns Community Team provides support to the whole family at home 24-hours a-day, seven days a week. It costs Acorns £4,500 per day, per hospice, to provide these services free of charge to families. It receives very little of its funding from the government, relying almost entirely on community donations. You can see more information on the work and care which happens day in, day out at Acorns children’s hospices at

Alan Read recently visited the Walsall family unit and saw first-hand that families of children who are being cared for there would greatly benefit from new facilities. Having discussed the requirements needed at the site the AMES team have set themselves a target of raising £5000 which will help to enhance the facility in Walsall.

Acorns in Walsall require the following:

  • 2 quality sofa beds
  • a small kitchen
  • an en-suite bathroom
  • the services of a bathroom installer
  • the services of a kitchen installer to carry out the work.

How can you help?

Please help by sponsoring us as we embark on this challenge to support an organisation which is close to all of our hearts. Many of us have children and have nothing but admiration for the work carried out by all the staff at Acorns Children’s Hospices. Help us make a difference to local families when they need it most, and who would really benefit from these new facilities.
You can either donate through making a secure payment at . And please help spread the word both online and offline so we can raise as much prior to our climb(s!!) in May.

Thank You Very Much
