Location: Raf Shawbury
Required works: Supply and install flame retardant bird net to 2 aircraft hangers and install bristle strips to hanger doors. Both aircraft hangers were 4,000 square metres and 13 metres high working from MEWP’s.
Challenges: Fitting around heating ducts, hoists and working with client to move helicopters to allow access.
Customer: Thomas Vale
Location: Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery
Required works: Treat and clean all stonework of pigeon guano. Supply and install bird net to all windows and internal courtyard areas, approx. 3,000 square metres. All internal court yards and windows were various sizes, 19 metres high working from MEWP’s. Post and wire system plus some spiking work carried out as part of the specification.
Challenges: Fitting onto ornate stone work. Completing the work in phases due to other contractors schedule and fixed scaffold to the entire building.
Customer: Wolverhampton homes
Location: Heath town, Several blocks
Required works: Treat and clean all areas affected by pigeon guano. Remove and install new bird net to all balconies. 20 metres high working from MEWP’s. Spiking work carried out as part of the specification to all window sills and leading ledges.
Approx 1,000 metres of spiking and 2,000 metres square of netting to balconies.
Challenges: Access to the facades of the building as all work had to be carried out from MEWP’s on soft landscaped areas reaching across peoples gardens and trees.
Customer: Britannia construction
Location: New Tesco store, Widnes
Required works: Supply and install bird post and wire system to undercroft car park. Working off scaffold towers and MEWP’s. Some spiking work carried out as part of the specification to the sign. 7,000 posts fixed to beams and 5,500 metres of wire used to complete the project in 2.5 weeks.
Challenges: Access to the sections of the car park due to other contractors. Tight completion deadlines due to handing over the store to main client.
